Keep The Cork Moist
Storing wine on its side is done for a reason. This method of storage keeps the cork moist so it will not crack. Additionally, moderating humidity is important as it too cause a cork to dry up (or grow mildew).
Avoid Strong Vibrations

The Right Temperature

Avoid Light
To avoid having light change your wine unfovarably, storing it in darkness or in very low light is highly recommended. Be careful to not store your wine by a window that allows direct sunlight to shine on your wine bottle.
