OK, so you are into area rugs but your budget is a bit stretched. Not to worry, you can in fact get cheap area rugs though of very good quality. You just need to be a little creative in your thinking and be prepared to think outside the box a bit. Using the following approaches, it is possible to get cheap accent rugs or cheap area rugs.
- Get out your yellow pages and search for rug retailers. Call them up and let them know you are interested in any seconds or slightly damage rugs. You would be surprised to know the absolute bargains you can pick up here. And the quality will most likely be pretty good.
- Contact interior decorators and let them know if they come across any used area rugs or used accent rugs you are definitely interested in taking a look. Many times decorators will take on jobs where they have to just discard of these things even though they are in pretty good shape. You are likely to get some real high quality stuff here which you probably will not have to pay for. Of course these area rugs may need cleaning, but that cost should be minimal.
- The same apply for general contractors. Again, they are most likely to come across rugs that they will want to discard in a hurry and would be happy for you to take it off of their hands.

The disadvantage of buying this way of course is that you may not get to inspect the rugs before buying and shipping costs could be a bit high. - Finally, for a very small fee you can place a small classified in your local paper, preferably ones like Penny Saver. You may not get the best types of rugs here but if you do get any, then you can place these in areas in your home that are heavily trafficked.
Cheap area rugs or cheap accent rugs do not necessarily mean low quality rugs. They are cheap not because of the quality, but because of the circumstances under which they are being sold or discarded.
